Combining beauty with function, designer Henning Koppel spent his career creating objects that were striking in form and practical in use. Henning Koppel was adept at making his most miraculous works seem effortless.

‘The Swan’ is the nickname of Henning Koppel’s Pitcher 1052. To make the body the silversmith cuts out two identical flat pieces of silver which are then shaped. When the silversmith has gone through the long process of raising the silver, he continues to work on the surface with many different hammers to make it smooth. When the two halves have their final shape they are given a final press in a form. The edges of the two halves are grinded and carefully prepared and are then carefully soldered together. The top and the handle are also made from a flat piece of silver and attached before the base.
