“Twirl began with a simple idea: imagining the movement of a metal corkscrew as it enters the cork and the line it generates. What interested me was the gesture behind it — that precise, mechanical movement becoming something graphic and playful when translated into a visual language. A pattern in continuous motion suggesting rotation, rhythm, and lightness. The name Twirl emerged naturally from this sense of movement — playful, circular and continuous. The lines wrapping around Anna and Alessandro convey a feeling of perpetual motion. They circle the body in a way that animates the composition, giving the two figurines a vivid and almost kinetic presence. Stripes, in all their forms, have always been one of my favorite motifs and have appeared throughout many of my collections. I am particularly drawn to them in unexpected, vibrant colors, as they consistently bring both structure and energy to every design.”
Alessandro M. represents the designer, while the classic Anna Corkscrew represents his fellow designer (and student at the time) Anna Gili.
