About the Artist:
Jens Jensen (1898-1978) was a Danish-American artist who worked at Rookwood Pottery from 1928 to the late 1940s. Jensen was notable for taking the realism of Rookwood production and adding more of an impressionist and modern tone.
About the Company:
Rookwood Pottery was based in Cincinnatti, Ohio from 1880-1967. The firm was one of the leading manufacturers of American Art Pottery, with architectural, 'mass' produced, and artist lines. Rights to the firm were purchased and the company re-opened in the early 2000s but the production is fairly simplistic and Rookwood in name alone.
