Bavarian King Lion on Pedestal, 8.7" by Nymphenburg Porcelain
Product Description:
Bavarian King Lion on Pedestal, 8.7" by Nymphenburg Porcelain
Lions have represented the House of Wittelsbach since 1242. Representing courage and valor, many of the lions wield the shield of blue and white oblique diamonds. The shield also dates back to the same period but evolved to its current appearance in 1950.
Whenever dignitaries are honoured in the festive rooms of the Bavarian State Chancellery, it is also done under the watchful eye of this royal lion. Originating as a reminder of the Bavarian royal house, the heraldic animal created by Ernst Andreas Rauch counts among the most intricate models of its species. Based on an archival model. Produced in 1986.
Dimensions: 6.7" x 3.5" x 8.7"
