Part of a series of bowls produced by Nymphenburg from 2004 onward, the Animal Bowls by Hella Jongerius take traditional animal forms from the Nymphenburg archives and present them with a melange of color and patterns.

Pieces from this collection are in many museums and private collections, including Stedelijk Museum ‘s Hertogenbosch, Zuiderzee Museum, Enkhuizen, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, FNAC Puteaux, Nationalmuseum Stockholm, and the High Museum of Art Atlanta.

Nymphenburg Porzellan was founded in 1747 in Munich, Germany. Hella Jongerius was trained at Eindhoven's Academy of Industrial Design. A member of Droog Design, Ms. Jongerius broke away on her own path shortly thereafter. Generally focusing on historical context and production processes, Ms. Jongerius' work is in numerous museums and private collections and has designed works for numerous other firms, including Vitra, Cappellini, and Maharam.
