The story of Modern Mixologist Barware begins with an earlier iteration citrus press, and one that Abou-Ganim found lacking—a party favor, really, purchased in bulk. The bar line was established with the mission to create a better juicer in 2010, a time when, Abou-Ganim says, “there really wasn’t much quality barware available at an affordable price. I’ve got knives at home I spent $200 on. You can buy a strainer for $2. It’s that old saying: You get what you pay for.”

As for the cast, non-stick strainer, “It was a long, long process,” Abou-Ganim says. He threw out all preexisting notions of what a strainer should be, and then invited back the things he believed in. Designed from scratch, the result was created specifically for limes, though small lemons, yuzu and other fruits will fit as well. “The lime is the most delicate of the citrus fruits, and therefore it’s so important to squeeze them a la minute.”

The Modern Mixologist Citrus Juicer fits any hand, and features a dimple indent at the end of the handle as a guide for proper handling. The hole pattern was specifically devised for a quick, effortless and efficient extraction of juice—every last drop.  A subtle logo pulls the piece into the set. Says Abou-Ganim, “Everything was designed to have a matching look and feel, and to work together.”
