Product Description:
Designed in 1939 by the Swedish Prince Sigvard Bernadotte, this sterling silver cutlery pattern is a fine example of the functionalist period of the early 1930's. The pattern is decorated in long grooves and a rounded handle which is the signature style of the creator. The Danish king Christian X ate daily meals with Bernadotte cutlery at his residence in Fredensborg Palace.

Prince Sigvard Bernadotte (1907-2002) was educated at the Royal Art Academy in Stockholm in 1929. He was influenced by the breakthrough of functionalism and the functional ideals of elegance which are incorporated in his designs.
