Designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri, this collection won the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award. This award is given to Italian designers for excellence in industrial design. Born August 6, 1918 in Milan, Italy, Ferrieri became known for her work in architecture and furniture design. After her recent passing in 2006, her company Kartell still remains one of the leading design influences for modern home decor.

In 1856, Giuseppe Sambonet established his company, Sambonet. In its first years, the company became the Official Purveyor to many noble families, including the Duchess of Genoa and the Count of Turin. Sambonet is now known for supplying world-class restaurants, hotels, and private homes. Today, designers such as Gio Ponti and Anna Castelli Ferrieri have created collections with Sambonet and have won awards for Good Design in both the United States and Europe.
