Helena White Vase by Marie Michielssen for Serax
The five vases in white and dark brown, almost black stoneware are Marie Michielssen's first steps as a ceramist. Anyone who follows her work will know that Marie likes to work with her hands. Earlier, she said that modelling with plaster and paper-mâché was like a form of meditation for her because of the repetitive nature of the actions. Therefore, the step towards ceramics was not so big. The simple cylinders are irregularly shaped, the hallmark of artisanship. Thanks to their unique character, they are decorative with or without flowers.

Designer Marie Michielssen has been an established member of the in-house design team at Serax for over 20 years. She has created countless designs inspired by and intended for everyday life. Her designs have a strong focus on functionality, but because she only works with materials that have ‘soul’, this is in no way at the expense of the aesthetic of her work as each and every one of her designs clearly shows. Marie designs two collections a year for Serax.
