Ibis Terra Dinner Plate, 9.4" by Wolfgang von Wersin for Nymphenburg Porcelain
Product Description:
Ibis Terra Dinner Plate, 9.4" by Wolfgang von Wersin for Nymphenburg Porcelain
A wonderful color contrast with scalloped gold rim.
Wolfgang von Wersin designed the Lotos shape for Nymphenburg in the New Objectivity-style in the 1950s. For LOTOS, von Wersin selected a simple basic shape with sweeping bowls and half-round upwardly flowing handles, which, with their gentle curves, are evocative of opening blossoms. Because of its liquid- and dirt-repellent leaves, the lotus blossom symbolizes purity in the Far East. This is also reflected in the gentle colors and designs used for the thin and translucent porcelain.
