The Ichendorf Milano Birds collection was designed by Tomoko Mizu, a Japanese industrial designer. The designer put her poetics in the project with the aim of being consistent with both the materials and the production processes.

Tomoko Mizu has been a designer in Italy for several years, after obtaining her master's degree in industrial design and training in the intricacies of a Japanese watchmaking company. This industrial niche can easily be seen in her projects as her consistent poetics blend well with the functionality of each design, both with the material and production processes.

Founded in Cologne in the early 20th Century, Ichendorf moved production and their design studio to Milan in 1990. The firm specializes in pushing the aesthetic boundaries of crystal and borosilicate glass, aspiring to the creation of modern designed objects.
