Je Kraak Collection Trabalhadores (Workers) Pot by Cyril Pedrosa for Vista Alegre
Product Description:
As well as being a renowned illustrator and animator, Cyril Pedrosa is one of the most talented French cartoonists today, the author of several celebrated graphic novels published since 1998. In an unpremeditated return to the country of his parents, Pedrosa rediscovered his roots with unexpected emotional and sensory force and paid homage to them in the book “Portugal”, published by Dupuis in 2011. After the opportunity to visit the Vista Alegre Factory and its Hand Painting Workshop, Pedrosa continued to discover the charms and mysteries of what is also his culture. In this new piece from the Je Kraak collection, the artist pays a heartfelt tribute to the multiple generations of women and men who work and have worked in the Factory, taking inspiration from photographic archives to draw a simple and tender portrait of those whose gestures, knowledge and experience have molded the history of this brand, while representing the beauty of the pieces the brand creates.

About the Company:
The Vista Alegre porcelain factory was founded in 1824, in Ílhavo, part of the Aveiro district (near the sea, in central Portugal). The company was the product of the heart and mind of a 19th century Portuguese entrepreneur and visionary, João Ferreira Pinto Basto. Throughout its history, the Vista Alegre brand has been closely linked to the cultural life of Portugal, though it has maintained a high level of international renown as well, exporting its products to more than 60 countries. Their products are used in some of Europe's finest hotels and restaurants..
