Lightscape or Epure Pasta, Soup or Deep Plate, 8.7" by Ruth Gurvich for Nymphenburg Porcelain
Product Description:
Lightscape or Epure Soup or Deep Plate, 8.7" by Ruth Gurvich for Nymphenburg Porcelain
Light and delicate as paper, precise as an origami object, and pure and clean as freshly fallen snow – Lightscape, the designer collection by Ruth Gurvich for Nymphenburg, is all that and more. It combines the vision of an extraordinary contemporary artist with the rich craftsmanship of a company with a long-standing tradition, in order to pursue new paths together.
The 18 piece set, which is available in white or with Épure decoration, is based on cunningly constructed paper models, which have been transformed into bisque porcelain down to the last detail. The outer parts have deliberately not been glazed, in order to replicate the texture and feel of paper as closely as possible. The subtle Épure decoration was inspired by Gurvich’s pencil markings and measurements on the original paper models, and emphasizes the hand-made character of this collection – each piece is unique.

Ruth Gurvich originally studied architecture before she turned to painting, and this is reflected in her creations. The major theme of her life’s work is the examination of spatiality and dimension, and the passion to captivate space in delicate porcelain vessels. Lightscape creates a radical yet subtle impression, its shape and decoration are innovative and extraordinary. Yet at the same time it is bound up with the universal spirit of classicism, so it can be used in the kitchen, the dining room, or the living room, both as a service and as an individual design object.
Nymphenburg Porzellan was founded in 1747 in Munich, Germany. One of the few porcelain manufacturers still producing all handmade product, Nymphenburg has supplied the aristocracy and elite for over 260 years. The factory is located on the grounds of Nymphenburg Palace.
