Ruth Gurvich has long and deliberately approached her collections as a canvas. From this vision emerged Hunting Sketches, a poetic series of watercolors conceived during her stays at the manufactory. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding castle park, the Paris-based artist captures deer, owls, hares, and countless other inhabitants of the landscape garden, painting them onto porcelain with the finest squirrel-hair brushes. Each piece is singular, imbued with delicacy, nuance, and unmistakable character.
Born in Argentina, Gurvich renders tawny owls — creatures that dwell unseen among gnarled trees in secluded corners — onto tea and coffee cups, quietly bringing the hidden life of the forest to the table.
