Lobster Vase by Bordallo Pinheiro
Product Description:
From the rich collection of Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro and his son, Manuel Gustavo, Bordallo Pinheiro has now recovered a piece first created in 1904 and held in the permanent collection of the Ceramics Museum in Caldas da Rainha. The elegance and formal innovation of the piece, the Lobster Vase, was significant in the decision to reproduce it. It combines the characteristic naturalism and exuberance of Bordallo Pinheiro, while featuring remarkable restraint in its design and painting. With its pure and minimal geometric lines, including the square design of the handles and the symmetry of the decorative elements, the Lobster Vase anticipates modernism in Portugal. Our Piece of the Year and a timeless creation.
