Bjørn Wiinblad was born 1918 in Copenhagen. Died 2006 in Lyngby. Studied painting at the Danish Royal Academy of Art. Numerous international exhibitions and honors – including the 1985 International Design Award and Danish Honorary Craftsman of the Year 1974. Wiinblad has been regarded as one of the most inventive and multifaceted artists of our time. His works included illustrating the 16 volume Danish issue of “Thousand and One Nights”. The stage he lived and worked on was the entire world with focal points at Copenhagen and Lausanne. Wiinblad won world-wide acclaim as artist, stage designer, poster designer and Gobelin designer as well as for his work in ceramics.
