No. 13 Giant Folding Knife by Opinel
Product Description:
The 8.7" stainless steel blade with varnished beech handle is ideal for barbecues and for cutting meats and cheeses.
The knife uses Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel, which is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives excellent cutting edge. The classic Opinel blade has adopted a Yatagan shape. The Yatagan shape is inspired by a traditional Turkish saber, the toe up. Beech is the most commonly used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. From France, our beech is hard, durable and easy to work.
Made in EU.
Caution: The No. 13 knife should be handled with great care; carefully open and close without directing the tip of the blade towards you. Do not use as a cleaver.
Even though the OPINEL knife looks simple, its manufacture requires several techniques which are complex when scaled up to an industrial production. The shape of the traditional Opinel knife has remained unchanged since its design by Joseph OPINEL in 1890. To prevent a negative impact on the environment, 95% of the wood for handles comes from sustainably managed French forests.
