Tuileries Silverplated 2.25" Champagne Stopper by Ercuis
Product Description:
Tuileries Silverplated 2.25" Champagne Stopper by Ercuis
This collection took inspiration from the Tuileries palace in Paris. Because the Tuileries palace hosted parties and extravagant social occasions over three hundred years, Ercuis designed a line of Bar Accessories in a range of traditional and modern styles in homage to the history that took place near the start of their company in 1867.
Tuileries was a former royal palace in Paris that was erected in 1564 due to the design of Catherine de Medici. It was under construction and renovation for over three hundred years and was the home to French Monarchs from Henry IV, and Louis XIV, to Emperor Napoleon III during the Second Empire. The palace started as a separate building, but over time the palace took on damage from various revolutions, and from the refurbishing and reconstruction of the palace the original palace connected to the Louvre. In the 1860s the palace was finished, only to be destroyed a few years after Ercuis was founded. The destruction of the palace occurred in 1871 where supporters of the Commune burned the royal palace.

Ercuis was founded in 1867 by Adrien Celeste Pillon, a priest from Ercuis in the French department of Oise, north of Paris. In 1880 Ercuis opened their first shop in Paris. Simultaneously they moved away from religious works and towards decorative and artistic flatware and hollowware, which they became renowned for. With evolving styles and trends Ercuis made a transition to more modern styles in 1969, introducing sleek designs to their expert level craftsmanship. Ercuis became an exclusive luxury French brand in 1978. Their products can be seen in multiple luxury hotels in Paris and in parts of northern and southern France including the Royal Monceau Raffles, the Shangri-La Hotel, and the Four Seasons George V. The growing luxury hotel industry on the international and local scale has secured Ercuis as a leading name in the world of luxury.
