Tundra Glass Tumblers, Set of 2 by Oiva Toikka for Iittala
The sophisticated and nostalgic Tundra glass series originally designed by Oiva Toika in 1970 is inspired by the tundra-like nature of Finland's north. Nature and natural objects strongly inspired Toika's work. Tundra is also inspired by the nature of the north. Tundra's unique pattern is made up of several smaller patterns. The Tundra plate is suitable for both dining and serving. Every product in the series is manufactured in Finland at the Iittala glass factory.

About the Designer:
Professor Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the great personalities of Finnish glass, whose imaginative, rich and bold glass art deviates from the mainstream of Nordic design. Toikka, who graduated as a ceramist from an art school in 1956, worked as a designer in Arabia until 1959, after which he moved to Sodankylä as a visual art teacher. He started his work as a permanent designer in Nuutajärvi in 1963 and since then worked with glass, designing his series of Art Glass Birds, as well as numerous popular glass patterns, including Kastehelmi and Flora.
